LVT Flooring in Dublin, From Choosing to Fitting

Royal Flooring Company supplies and fits vinyl flooring across Dublin from our showroom in Dunboyne, Co. Meath. We carry three luxury vinyl (LVT) ranges: Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl in wood and stone looks, herringbone LVT, and oak-effect vinyl. All three are sold as 100% waterproof and suitable for underfloor heating.

How it works: compare the ranges side by side in the showroom, then book a free, no-obligation quote. That covers a measure-up, samples and pricing for your rooms, and the floor is professionally fitted once you have chosen.

Vinyl, LVT and SPC

What LVT Is, and Why It Copes With Water

LVT stands for luxury vinyl tile. It comes as individual planks and tiles rather than a roll, with a printed wood or stone design under a clear protective top layer. There is no wood-fibre core inside the board, so water has nothing to soak into. That is why vinyl is waterproof where laminate is only water-resistant.

You will also see SPC, short for stone plastic composite. That is vinyl built on a rigid core made largely of limestone and PVC, which makes the board stiffer and more stable. Our Alpha Vinyl range is built on a rigid core, and all three ranges carry textured surfaces with a realistic grain or stone finish that reads convincingly at floor level.

The practical upshot is a floor that is warm and quiet underfoot, stands up to scratches and scuffs, and is simple to keep clean. For a busy family home, that combination is hard to match.

Luxury Vinyl Tiles and Planks in Three Ranges

Each range starts from the same waterproof, scratch-resistant construction. The difference is the look, the format and how the floor goes down. Most people choose by look first and by room second, because all three suit kitchens, hallways and bathrooms.

The range pages show the designs we carry, and the Dunboyne showroom is where you can compare the finishes in person.

Choosing Between the Ranges

For a stone or tile look, start with Alpha Vinyl. For a statement hall or open-plan floor with a parquet pattern, look at herringbone LVT. For a clean, straight oak plank running through the house, oak-effect vinyl is the simplest choice. Because the room rarely rules a range out, pattern and budget usually decide it.

Where Vinyl Earns Its Place in a Dublin Home

Vinyl is at its best in the rooms that are hardest on a floor: the kitchen, the utility room, the bathroom and the hall where wet shoes come in from the rain. Because it is warm and quiet underfoot, it also works through open-plan living spaces and bedrooms, so one floor can run through the whole ground floor.

Rooms it suits
  • Kitchens and utility rooms, where spills and appliance leaks happen
  • Bathrooms and en-suites
  • Hallways and back doors that take the daily traffic
  • Open-plan living areas that need one continuous floor

Waterproof Boards Still Need Careful Fitting

The boards themselves will not swell, but a vinyl floor is only as good as what is underneath it and how the edges are finished. A thin floor shows every ridge in the subfloor, so levelling is part of doing the job properly rather than an extra.

What to check first
  • The subfloor is flat and dry, or the quote includes levelling
  • Click floors have room to expand at the edges and are not trapped under kitchen units
  • Edges around baths, showers and appliances are finished properly
Worth asking at the quote
  • Whether the range suits your underfloor heating, and at what surface temperature
  • For herringbone, whether it will be click-fit or glue-down
  • How thresholds and doorways will be finished

Plan Your Rooms Before You Book

Knowing roughly how much floor you are covering makes a showroom visit more useful. Add each room below for a total area, then bring it with you or mention it when you book.

0.0 m²
0.0 m²

Total floor area: 0.0 m²

A planning figure only, not a quotation. It is worked out in your browser from the sizes you type, and nothing is sent anywhere. Every room is measured properly at the measure-up.

  1. Which rooms, and whether one floor should run through. A continuous floor across an open-plan ground floor reads as one space and avoids extra thresholds.
  2. Whether there is underfloor heating. All three ranges are listed as suitable, but the exact product and its surface temperature limit still need confirming.
  3. What is on the floor now. Carpet, tiles, timber or bare screed each need different preparation, and that affects the quote.
  4. Whether the floor goes under the kitchen units or up to them. Click floors need room to expand, which changes both the measurements and the fitting plan.

Vinyl Flooring Questions From Dublin Homeowners

Do you supply and fit vinyl flooring in Dublin?

Yes. Royal Flooring Company supplies and fits luxury vinyl flooring across Dublin from our showroom in Dunboyne, Co. Meath. A free, no-obligation quote includes a measure-up, samples and pricing for your rooms, and the floor is professionally fitted once you have chosen your range.

What is the difference between LVT and vinyl flooring?

LVT, or luxury vinyl tile, is a type of vinyl flooring. It is made as individual planks and tiles with a realistic wood or stone design under a protective top layer, rather than supplied as a roll of sheet vinyl. All three of our vinyl ranges are LVT.

Is LVT flooring waterproof?

Our three LVT ranges are sold as 100% waterproof. There is no wood-fibre core to swell, so spills and standing water will not damage the boards. The edges around baths, showers and appliances still need finishing properly, and the subfloor should be dry before fitting.

Can vinyl flooring go over underfloor heating?

Yes. Alpha Vinyl, herringbone LVT and oak-effect vinyl are all listed as suitable for underfloor heating. Confirm the maximum surface temperature for the exact product you choose, because running the heating hotter than the manufacturer allows can affect the warranty.

Is vinyl flooring good for kitchens and bathrooms?

Yes. Because it is waterproof, vinyl is one of the most practical floors for kitchens, utility rooms, bathrooms and busy hallways. It is also warmer and quieter underfoot than tile, which matters in a room where you stand for long periods.

Where can I see vinyl flooring near me in Dublin?

Visit our showroom at Unit 4C, Yates Center, Navan Road, Dunboyne, Co. Meath, A86 FD82. It is open Monday to Friday 10:00 to 17:00 and Saturday 11:00 to 16:00, and you can compare all three vinyl ranges side by side.
